Scam 1 – Large Upfront Payments
“This job is gonna involve a lot of materials and equipment. I’ll have to ask for at least 30%-50% upfront to get started.”
It’s quite common for contractors to request some up-front payment before starting a job, such as residential roofing in Surrey; it gives them peace of mind that you are serious about the project. That said, the payment should only be a small percentage of the total project cost. If they demand any high amount and you pay them, chances are they will disappear on you or do a sloppy job. Scam 2 – Sketchy Contracts
