The roofing angle or pitch are determined by its vertical and horizontal angle, or the base length and width of the roof. It’s calculated by the number of inches the roof vertically rises for every 12 inches of horizontal extension.  For example, if your roof is vertically raised by 6 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run, its pitch will be 6:12.
